For U8 and above, if no referee is available at game time, coaches should split the game between themselves and each coach ref half a game. We’ll be providing one copy of a ref book or ref fold out in all team bags.
*Volunteer Forms: All helpers MUST fill out a volunteer form, either online at www.eayso.org or email us at ayso1236@live.com for a written form, this to an AYSO requirement in order to safeguard our children, our club and our helpers. This volunteer form also provides AYSO national with critical information about each volunteer so that we can keep our kids safe.
*Training & Certification:
· All volunteer helpers MUST complete the AYSO Safe Haven class either online or at local training event. The Safe Haven class informs you about AYSO rules and policies to follow when you’re volunteering around children, this helps to keep the players, parents and volunteers safe.

*Meet Your Coach Night: All players, parents & coaches are required to attend the Meet Your Coach Night; this is where the players and parents get to meet the coach, pick up uniforms and game schedules. Coaches work with your team parents to help distribute uniforms, game schedules and get parent signatures on the player registration forms. All player registration forms MUST have a “wet” signature on the player forms from a parent or guardian, this signature authorizes medical release in cases of injury, the child cannot play soccer without it. Plan to arrive around 5:30pm to help set up, get organized, pick up balls, coaching bag, schedules, etc., from 6-7 PM answer any questions and distribute your own coach note with important team info, from 7-7:30 coach meeting.
- April 10 for Clear Lake, Clayton & Turtle Lake teams, meeting at the Clear lake Elementary gym at 6-7pm
- April 12 for Amery teams meeting at the Amery Middle School Gym 6-7pm
- NOTE: a mandatory coach meeting will be from 7-7:30pm right after each event for the coaches. This meeting will go over concussions rules and other important information. If there is any chance of a concussion the player must not reenter the game, more info to follow at the meeting.
*Coaches: The coach needs to contact us at ayso1236@live.com and provide us with their practice times and field location preferences, we will confirm availability and get back to the coach as soon as we can. NOTE: U5 & U6 coaches do not need to contact us because the practice and games are on the same night. Once a coach receives their team roster, they must call all the parents of their players the week of April 1-7. Introduce themself and tell the parents of when their child’s team practice nights, times, and fields are. Give the Parents your TEAM ID and the soccer club’s website address so they can look up the schedules online. Remind the parents they must attend Meet Your Coach Night to meet you and receive their uniform and game schedule. Call your Asst. Coach / Co-Coach / team parent and introduce yourself and work together on a plan for the season.
*Coach Bag: Coaches must have the coach bag with the player registration forms and medical kit with them at all games and practices. Please review the contents of your coach bag before the season begins. The bag also contains cones, pennies for scrimmages, goalie shirt & gloves, coach clipboard, and incident report forms. You’ll also receive a soccer book appropriate for your age division and a ref book or fold out. Let us know at ayso1236@live.com if you need a whistle and lanyard (neck or wrist).
*Website: The ARSC website address is http://arsc.clubspaces.com, the website will have our meeting dates, game schedules, practice schedules, team contact numbers and more so please check it prior to going to your games to make sure there have been no last minute changes to the schedules. If anyone can help build our website please email us at ayso1236@live.com
*Shutterfly Website: Each Coach/Team Parent can set up a free Shutterfly website. This website offers many features and will allow coaches/Team Parents to post reminders of the team practices and games, post announcements and duties and share team photos and more. Fliers will be handed out on meet your coach night about how to activate the team website. (It only takes about 10 minutes)
*Safety:
- Players must wear shin guards at all practices and games.
- Player must have a water bottle to keep hydrated.
- Players may not wear jewelry, soft hair accessories are ok.
- No hanging or climbing on nets or goals, each year there is at least one death due to goals.
- Watch out for gopher holes & help pick up trash and keep the fields clean.
- No heading for U5, U6, U8, & U10 players. If the coach has not been AYSO trained on heading the ball then that team is not allowed to head the ball no matter what the age division, player safety comes first.
- No Player can play if they have a suspected concussion, this is not easy to determine so when in doubt the player stays out.
- No Player can play if they have a cast on any part of their body, Player safety comes first.
- No Player can play if they have an open / bleeding wound
*AYSO Incident Report: Report all incidents requiring medical attention to the safety director at ayso1236@live.com, there are incident forms in the coach bag or online at www.ayso.org/resources/compliance. The AYSO Incident Report Form will be used whenever there is a personal injury, damaged property, or threats of or actual physical violence surrounding an AYSO game, practice, event or property. The form should be prepared by the Affected Party (Player, Player Guardian, Coach, AYSO Official, AYSO Volunteer, Spectator or other). The Form may also be prepared by a member of the regional staff such as the regional safety director, or event staff members.
*Field Rules:
- NO SMOKING
- NO chewing products
- NO PETS ALLOWED
- We are guest on School property so please be respectful of the property and stay off the school equipment next to the buildings.
*Player Uniform: Teams must have a complete uniform, consisting of a jersey, matching socks, black shorts and shin guards. Tennis shoes or athletic shoes, round or elongated rubber cleats are acceptable but the shoe cannot have toe cleats. Mark all equipment with your player’s name and store it in a soccer bag. Encourage players to be responsible for their soccer items. Lost Items will be placed in the “Lost and Found” by the soccer shed, all items must be claimed by the end of the Soccer Season or they will be donated to “Worn Again” or other similar organization.
*AYSO KID ZONE: Kids are #1 so make the pledge and sign up today. Young players look to you for direction and we ask that you encourage and model good sportsmanship. Having a fun time – not winning – is everything. AYSO is not about being competitive. Fans only cheer, and only coaches coach. Always be positive, enthusiastic and a supportive fan.
*Good Sportsmanship Policy: All fans, coaches, referees, and players, are expected to follow and enforce the rules of good sportsmanship at all times. “Good Sportsmanship” is one of AYSO’s six philosophies. AYSO strives to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude. Sportsmanship is how we play the game – how we follow the Laws and show respect for teammates, opponents and officials. This is evidenced in applauding opponents’ good performances, encouraging teammates and courtesy towards the referees. Coaches, parents and spectators need to be excellent role models of good sportsmanship as players often follow their example. Coaches, referees, and fans need to work together as a team to make sure our players go home with a smile on their face and joy in their heart.
*Weather: Players and fans, please dress appropriately for the weather. In hot weather, bring hats, sunscreen, and plenty to drink. In cold or windy weather bring light jackets or pullovers, dress warmly, the fields can be damp at times. Bring chairs and rain gear if necessary. BE PREPARED! Rain Ponchos; sweatshirts and other items are available for purchase at the food stand if needed. Players can wear long pants, hats and gloves in cold weather. A long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt can be worn under the jersey. Remember that a parent has final say on whether their child should play under any condition.
*Game Cancellations & Makeup: Our club’s policy is to play games in snow or rain or rainbow conditions. If such conditions exist at game time players should report to their assigned field and the referee/coach on the field has the authority to shorten, cancel or postpone the game. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Games are cancelled if there is lightning within 5 miles or other severe weather events like hale, tornados, high winds, thunderstorms, blizzards, etc. A parent has final say on whether their child should play under any weather condition. If a game is cancelled, it is the coach’s responsibility to contact the other coach and discuss possible make-up dates & times. Then, contact the scheduler at ayso1236@live.com. The scheduler will confirm the date, time and field so there are no conflicts. Games should be rescheduled within a week if possible.
*Balanced sides at game time: All fan, players and coaches are to show respect and good sportsmanship by evening out players on the field so that there are equal numbers of players on each side. Coaches should discuss before the game either sharing players so that both teams have the same number of players on the field or reduce the number of players on the field so they are equal. For those teams that have a lot of players they should share players so that everyone gets good playing time rotating in. U5 & U6=3 players each side; U8=6 players; U10=7 players; U12=9 players & U14=11 players.
*Family Responsibilities: Families should be on time for games and practices. Offer to help the coach at practices. Learn about the laws of soccer at www.ayso.org. The coach/team parent will ask families to participate in providing team snacks and drinks for some games. The coach/team parent will ask families to participate in being a linesperson for some games. Good conduct and sportsmanship are expected at all time and families help reinforce the positive attitude of all players, coaches, and referees.
*Board Meetings: Our club has a monthly board meeting at Amery Pizzeria from 6:00-7:30 PM. Please see our club’s website http://arsc.clubspaces.com for exact dates each month. All are welcome to attend. Contact any board member if you would like to help at ayso1236@live.com.
